Lauren O. Florence, M.D.
Dr. Lauren O. Florence is a Plastic Surgeon in solo private
practice in Salt Lake County. She finished medical school at the
University of Utah in 1981 and then General Surgery training in New
York City in 1988. She completed her Plastic Surgery training at the
University of Utah in 1990 and set up practice near St. Mark’s Hospital
where she remains to this day.
Dr. Florence
was elected Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at St. Mark’s Hospital in
1992. She was on the Executive Committee of St. Mark’s Department
of Surgery from 1996 to 2007. Concurrently, she was Chair of the Utah Medical Association Editorial Board.
Dr.
Florence was President of the Utah Medial Association Women Physicians
Section and active in the issues dear to the hearts of women and girls.
In 2005, an Honors for Nursing Award was given to Dr. Florence in
appreciation of her help to the nursing profession. In 2007, the Girl
Scouts of America honored her with a Courage and Confidence Award.
Healthcare
reform came to the fore in 2006. Dr. Florence co-founded the Healthcare
Information Initiative of Utah with Ellen Reddick and Dr. Jay Preston
Hughes.

Handbook. She currently writes several monthly columns for national and
local publications.
